The Young Doctors Forum scaled new height by coordinating with UG and PG medical students in their
various activities, thus sensitizing them regarding the importance of IMA.
Dr. Ajoy Saha and Dr. Arvind Patel had meetings with Dr. Sagar Mundada, President of Central MARD
and discussed various joint activities for RMOs, like conducting workshops on stress management,
empathic approach to patient care, doctor – patient relationship, confidence building & control
of mind etc. which can benefit them in handling their day to day problems effectively during
there tight schedules.
On 15th August 2015, IMA Mumbai Branch in association with MARD organized a Blood Donation
drive at J. J. Hospital which was inaugurated by Hon’ble Minister of Higher & Technical Education
and Cultural Affairs, Maharashtra State, Shri Vinod Tawde. Around 600 units of blood were collected.
Dr Ajoy Saha and Dr Arvind Patel participated in a panel discussion on NORI (No Obligation to return
to India). The IMA stall was installed at the venue and membership promotional materials and forms
were distributed to those eligible for membership of IMA. The response to this activity was
encouraging as Dr. Sagar Mundada and many of his colleagues became members of IMA Mumbai
Branch.
On 20th December 2015, Dr. Ajoy Saha, Dr Arvind Patel, Dr Pragji Vaja and Dr Pankaj Bandarkar
represented IMA Mumbai Branch in a rally organized by MARD of more than 150 Harley Davidson bikers
riding from J. J. Hospital to Sion Hospital via Nair Hospital & K. E. M. Hospital, to highlight the
problems of assault on doctors, with the slogan “Save the doctor from assault”. The rally was
given vast press and T.V. coverage.
On 15th February 2016, an Inter-Medical Collegiate Debate Competition was organized at T. N.
Medical College/Nair Hospital between 2 pm & 5 pm during their Undergrad Med Conference
“Swaastik-2016”. Dr. Ajoy Saha gave a 15 minutes Power Point presentation of activities of IMA to
the young audience of about 500 (full house) UG, Interns & PG students before the debate
competition. “IMA Mumbai Inter-Medical Collegiate Debate Rotating Trophy” and a cash prize of
Rs. 7500/- was won by K. J. Somaiya Medical College, Mumbai and Shrimati Kashibai Navale Medical
College from Pune was the Runners-up, winning a cash prize of R. 6000/-. IMA stall was kept at the
entrance of the auditorium. Membership promotional materials and forms were distributed to those
eligible to become members of IMA.
Looking at the success of this programme we intend having this event every year at different medical
colleges in Mumbai during their college festival so as to sensitize young medical graduates of IMA
activities, thereby escalating our membership strength. We intend making “IMA Mumbai Rotating
Trophy” a brand and a sought after trophy among the medical colleges of Mumbai!
