IMA Mumbai Branch is considered a premier IMA branch in the country. It has its roots way back to 1883 when the Bombay Medical Union - the 1st ever society of medicos was formed in 1935. It was in the year 1945 the bombay branch was given a status of Provincial Branch and later on officially joined the Maharashtra State Branch in the year 1970. In March 1986 under the Presidentship of Dr. S. Y. Medhekar, the name of the branch was changed to IMA Mumbai Branch. The branch began with 15 members & has presently reached the figure of 2600 members and has multifaceted activities.
